If our willingness to forgive others is evidence of the truth of the Resurrection then joy is the evidence of the sincerity of our forgiveness.

The Joy of Judgment
As we prepare to begin the Great Fast, let us not lose sight of the fact that we are getting ready not simply to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ but moving toward the Last Judgment, for that Great Day when “God will wipe away every tear” and when “there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things” the lies and the shame of sin, will “have passed away.”
