Far too many of our sons and daughters drift away from Christ and his Church once they leave home for college. In fact, by the age of 25, roughly 60% of those baptized and raised Orthodox will have left the Church. Of those that remain Orthodox, just 1 in 4 will be in church this Sunday. How can we expect them to “stand fast, and hold the traditions” which they have been taught “whether by word, or epistle” as St. Paul says, without “standing fast” alongside them (see 2 Thessalonians 2:15)? This couldn’t be more important in a time of truly unprecedented social and technological change, moral relativism, and seemingly endless existential challenges. The one thing needful is Christ, the True “Physician of Souls”, and his Holy Church. Please help us in our mission to support our youth!
Sts. Cyril and Methodius Orthodox Christian Church, established in 2017, is a small but growing community of Orthodox Christians under the Jurisdiction of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA. Our mission is to serve the students and broader University of Wisconsin-Madison community by bearing faithful witness to Christ’s teachings as they have been proclaimed and preserved unchanged for two millennia. Our goal is to establish a permanent presence on Madison’s Isthmus that will enable us to bring the fullness of the Liturgical life of the Church to our youth and provide the support and resources they need to grow in their faith and flourish in life! An Orthodox parish on the university campus also provides an essential witness to the surrounding community.
Your support will go a long way toward helping us realize our mission and reach our goal. Please consider joining those who have committed their time, treasure, and talent to establish a permanent Orthodox Church on the Isthmus. Help us reach your children and grandchildren with the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
